General
Information
Visiting Hours
Family and friends are
welcome at any time but are asked to respect patient’s
needs for rest, sleep, nursing care and therapy.
Laundry
If relatives are unable to
do your laundry, please discuss this with the Nurse Unit
Manager. A washing machine is available in the ward for
patient use and you will need to supply the laundry
detergent. Personal laundry can be arranged through an
external laundry and is charged at commercial rates. The
ward secretary can provide a current price list on
application.
Phone Calls
Urgent messages are always
accepted but relatives and friends are requested not to
phone over meal times:
8.00 – 9.00 am
12.00 – 1.00 pm
5.00 – 6.00 pm
What do I need to bring into
hospital?
Toiletries
Shampoo, soap, toothbrush,
toothpaste, comb / brush/ tissues, shaving equipment etc
Clothing
Comfortable clothing for day
and night wear: night attire of your choice. Please
have your clothing clearly marked with you name.
Medications
Bring all your medications
so that the staff and the pharmacist can review what you
are taking.
Money
A small amount for any
papers, telephone calls and unexpected small expenses.
Wheel Chair and Seat Belts
Clearly identified
Continence Equipment
As needed
Electrical Equipment
Any audio visual equipment
must have ear phones.
All rooms are equipped with
ceiling mounted televisions. These are available free
of charge.
Electrical appliances
brought into the hospital must be tested by our
maintenance staff prior to use.
Telephone
You may bring your own phone
if you wish.
