Community Advisory Board

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is established to assist the CEO with, and provide advice on, community and stakeholder engagement in order to ensure the organisation continues the mission of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary and achieves objectives relevant to the community it serves. The CAB contributes to the organisation’s strategic planning process, advises on marketing initiatives and promotion of services, monitors the organisation’s communication strategy, and advises on social accountability and community development initiatives.

Ian Stoney
Chair, CALVARY HEALTH CARE BETHLEHEM CAB

Ian Stoney has had extensive business experience in private, public and ‘not-for-profit’ organisations. For more than 30 years he held senior appointments in state and national organisations, including: Grain Elevators Board, Road Construction Authority and the Road Transport Authority, VICROADS, Australian Road Research Board and Austroads, Public Transport Corporation, Municipal Association of Victoria, Spastic Society of Victoria (now Scope), and the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria.

Ian has been involved in a range of community activities over the years, in executive and membership roles for organisations including: Catholic Family Welfare Bureau (now Centacare), Inter Church Trade and Industry Mission, Board of the Xavier Foundation, Board of St Paul’s Hostel for the Aged, Board of the Hibernian Society, and as a worker for St Vincent de Paul Society (house calls, soup kitchens, etc).

Ian is a qualified accountant, has a business studies diploma, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Fellow of the Chartered institute of Transport, a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (America), a member of the Local government Engineers Association of Victoria, and a life member of the Australian Grain Institute.

Dr Jane Fischer
CALVARY HEALTH CARE BETHLEHEM Chief Executive Officer/Medical Director

Jane commenced her career as a general practitioner and has more than 20 years experience in the palliative care field in rural, remote and metropolitan settings. Jane commenced at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem as Clinical Director of Palliative Care in 2001 and has been in her current role as CEO/Medical Director since 2007.

Jane has been on the Board of Palliative Care Victoria (PCV) since 2001 and Chair since 2004. She is a Palliative Care Australia Council member and has been on a number of state-based advisory committees in her role with PCV and is currently the Chair of the Victorian Palliative Medical Training Advisory Committee.

Her areas of expertise include leadership, strategy and service development.

Jane holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Diploma of Child Health and Fellowship Australian Chapter of Palliative Medicine.

Anne Murphy OAM
Anne is a medical records and health information technician currently employed in a private gastrointestinal investigation unit (MGIU) at Cabrini hospital.  Anne also currently serves on the board of KYM Employment Services and the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) Insurance Committee, which oversees the public liability, professional indemnity and fidelity insurances of local government in Victoria and Tasmania together with Water Authorities.  She is a former Councillor and Mayor of the former City of Preston, local government Commissioner at the cities of Stonnington and Whittlesea, and President of the Municipal Association of Victoria Finance Chair of the Australian Local Government Association. She has served on the Board of the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services (MFESB) and numerous other State and local committees and organisations.

Brenda Ainsworth National Director Public Hospitals
Brenda holds a Bachelors degree in Health Science (Nursing) and a Masters in Management. Her previous positions have included Director, Health Advisory at Price Waterhouse Coopers, Executive Director, Health Performance Improvement, Innovation & Redesign for ACT Health and Director of Major Projects, Nepean Hospital.

Whilst her background is as a nurse, Brenda has spent the last eight years focusing on health system performance; clinical service redesign and the development of innovative models of care both in NSW and the ACT. The ACT Health Innovation & Redesign team were acknowledged for their work both nationally and internationally winning project management awards for Early Recognition of the Deteriorating patient program; redesigning Medical Retrieval Services in the ACT and the development and implementation of the first public nurse-led Walk-in Centre in Australia, under her leadership.

Her work has been recognised in NSW through her nomination for NSW Woman of the Year in 2005 and her subsequent admission onto the NSW Honour Roll for Women. She was the winner of the 2010 Telstra Business Women’s Award in the ACT for Innovation

Julia Trimboli CALVARY HEALTH CARE BETHLEHEM, Director of Mission
Director of Mission, Julia Trimboli is a vibrant educator with a special interest in social justice. Her academic qualifications and life experiences have bought her to the work of Mission in Catholic Health Care. Julia is skilled at forming and educating staff in faith based organizations. She was a member of the first cohort to undertake the Catholic Women’s Interfaith Fellowship, an academic and formation course established to equip women for leadership. Julia’s academic qualifications include: a Bachelor of Arts, a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education, Post Graduate Qualifications in Human Rights and Social Justice and has completed a Masters of Arts (Theology).

John Coulson
John Coulson is a chartered accountant and holds a masters degree in business administration.  His 25 years of consulting experience has been focused on undertaking strategic planning and performance improvement projects for government and not-for-profit agencies (including a number of health organisations) and companies in the services and manufacturing sectors. 

John is a director of Chartered Accountants HLB Mann Judd, a listed IT company, a health insurance company (Transport Health), and a charitable organisation (Ardoch Youth Foundation).
